Love from the Loire (in California)

It seems like just yesterday that we turned the page on the calendar, said our goodbyes to 2017, and ushered in a bright and new 2018. Yet somehow Valentine’s Day is already upon us! In honor of this Hallmark holiday where we pronounce our undying love for the world to see, I thought it appropriate to finally confess to a longstanding affair. I’ll admit: I have been cheating! I have been in a relationship with sunny California for the better part of a decade and she has been outstandingly good to me. But for much of that time I have been seeing someone else and it is high time I declared...I am in love with the Loire!

It may have been the vine topped limestone cliffs around Vouvray. Maybe the rolling hills of Cab Franc surrounding Bourgueil did me in. Or perhaps the sleepy forested hollows of Savennières that belie such beautiful Chenin captivated my attention. Whatever it was, the draw was so strong that I have attempted to emulate (in the sincerest form of flattery) those wines I love so much. So, on this Valentine’s Day, crack open a bottle of T. Berkley Chenin or Rosé of Cabernet Franc and join me in toasting to inspiration (and love)!

P.S. It is with great excitement and anticipation that I am officially announcing the release date for my inaugural Cabernet Franc from Carneros’ Leaning Oak Vineyard. Available April 1st, 2018!
